Summerizing My Thoughts

I just finished 23 things today. The ones that I really enjoyed were the image generator and the youtube commercials. Once I got into the program, I really began to understand what 2.0 technology was all about. I would never have explored this technology without 23 things. Things would get dicey when I did not understand what I was doing and would just want to pull out my hair. I would find myself calling the computer names because it was not doing what I had hoped it would do. I need a break from technology for a while. If a program was started maybe in the Spring, I might try it out.

Net Library

I found Net Library very confusing and not very user friendly. Overdrive would not let me create an account so that option was out. I would rather read a book instead of reading it off of my computer. I do not think I will be using Net Library anytime soon.

Podcasts

I just put a podcast on my bloglines from the BBC. I am beginning to understand how to subscribe to different RSS feeds. It takes some concentration to figure it out. Once I did I was able to subscribe with not too many problems.

YouTube

With help from my 12 year old son, I explored youtube today. We looked at a Rob Zombie music video and also some toy commercials from the 1970's. I really enjoyed the commericals because they were toys that I grew up with and remember me and my three brothers playing with these toys.

Web 2.0 Awards

The site I looked at was for savings deals in the city in which I live in. I cannot see that as being useful for the library. We already have coupons out for the patrons to take. I really don't see savings deals as something the library should be offering to patrons. Other sites might have useful things that we can incorporate in our system but not city savings deals.

Zoho

I just had the best time with Zoho Writer. I really had a lot of fun playing with the different color combinations by changing the background color and the color of the words. I can really see my self using Zoho writer for all of my word processing jobs.

Sandbox Wiki

Wikis

I found the wiki from Prince William County Library to be very interesting. They listed to most circulated books of the previous week. That would work well with our library. I also looked at a library wiki that had recipes on it. They linked to the cookbooks they were from. I find that to be very interesting and fun. I really enjoyed looking at wikis.

Web and Library 2.0

I read some of the perspectives and found one to be believable and one to be totally beyond comprehension. I find the idea of a virtual 4D library to be complete nonsense. We would all lose our jobs to a virtual library. I would rather go to a real library than a virtual one.

Technorati

I explored the different aspects of Technorati. I found the site somewhat confusing. I am not sure that it is something that I would use.

Del.iciou.us

I can see where Del.iciou.us would be a useful tool to have on hand. I am not sure that it would be something that I would use. The whole bookmarking thing is out of my comfort zone but that does not mean that I will not try it at some point in time.

Life Long Learner

Thing number 2 is out of order in my blog. I did not realize that I had skipped it until I looked over my tracking sheet. Creating a tool kit will be the easiest of the learning goals to achieve. I have all the tools I need a hand (i.e. a computer, my tracking sheet and some time in which to complete my 2.0. learning). Getting started was the hardest thing for me to do. I was afraid to try to complete the excerises because I was not sure I would understand what I was doing. I am doing my best.

Using Rollyo

Rollyo is a great tool. I like to search the web for news sites. Now I have all the news sites in one place that I can easily access and read without wasting time.

Using Library Thing

I found this exercise to be very useful. I will be able to keep track of all of the books that I have read. I am going to be able to input all of the books that I have at home.

Image Generator

I just finished creating an image. I found it to be a lot of fun. I could sit here and create images for hours.

Merlin

I just explored Merlin and found it somewhat confusing. I really don't understand what it was all about. I will explore more to learn more. I did find the social networking to be interesting and fun.

Bloglines

I just created my bloglines account. Once I understood what I was doing, I found the website to be very useful and a lot of fun.

I am enjoying having a blog. I have never done anything like this before and it is alot of fun.

I just explored Flickr and understand the concept of shared pictures. I am still confused about mashups and 3rd party sites. I hope to clear up the confusion as I do more exploring.
